Music
As early as i can remember music has always been apart of my daily life, even from an early age i would be surrounded by music constantly playing, all types, genres, tempos and moods blaring out from the Radio and old Cassette Players, Movies.
It didn’t take long before i started becoming choosey, or growing a preference of music – sound. I began to create my own flavored tastes of the music available to me, which back then, when i was young, would have been the likes of , rave music (mixed cassettes that inspiring young DJ’s would hand to me) The Prodigy, Michael Jackson, Queen, Pink Floydd, Chris Rea, Barry White, Nirvana, ACDC, Metallic, to name but a few…
I like to think of this part of life as a huge mysterious journey with a soundtrack. Through this time i met so many people – young and old, saw worlds i had no knowledge of, met new people and saw new places. And this is part of where i draw allot of inspiration from, as well as the experiences that have brought me to this moment now, which i hope to reflect in my music.
I first started producing to create Electronic Dance Music, which eventually progressed through to Trance, House, Breaks, Hip Hop, Chillout and everything in between. But even from the beginning on this side, i would attempt to create what i didn’t then know is called breaks, big beat or breakbeat.
I try to stay away from the norm in preference for the ‘edge’ of sound. I love to remix, mash up, sample, and produce anything that triggers emotion. I am especially interested in the Break Beat House, Trance, Ambient, and especially anything that sound melodic/ melancholy and progressive. I am currently working on a line of Remix / Mix EP’s of various artists, as well as personal EP Releases and my debut album.
The more i get to hear and learn of all these broken beat types of genres, the more restricted with the genre specific styles i had been learning; always having to stick to genre ‘guidelines’ and fit with what the best DJ of the genre was pushing. So i continued to experiment, and when i truly starting producing breaks i found complete freedom, in which to carve out my own musical path and sound. Ever since that’s exactly what i have been working towards.
Currently I’m focusing on music closely linked with experimentation, as well as many styles; I am working on an album which falls under the category: / indie electronic , but i prefer to call it ‘experimental, or experimental fours’.
I continue on my quest to find new forms of inspiration for my music, and hope that you join me!
